Journey to Lo Manthang No. 8
“Journey to Lo Manthang No. 8” is included in a series inspired by a high-altitude expedition into the historically secluded upper Mustang region. Formerly referred to as Nepal’s Forbidden Kingdom, this area was inaccessible to tourists until the mid-1990s. The route traversed arid valleys and eroded canyons, passing significant cultural landmarks such as prayer wheels, chortens, mani walls, and monasteries. Portions of the trek followed the main trade corridor linking the Tibetan High Plains with India and afforded panoramic views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, two of the world's tallest mountains.
